New Heaven and New Earth – Christian Bible August 28, 2008

People talk of going to heaven when we die. So I asked myself, where is that found in the Christian Bible? Looking back to the Beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth. The Heaven means the things above the Earth, namely the sky and the place where God dwells. The Earth is where mankind and all God’s creation dwells.
In Revelation, God creates a New Heaven. Is there anything wrong with the exisiting heaven? Well, it must be polluted, which is why it needs to be created new. Mankind’s place is on the earth. So God also creates a New Earth for him.
Technically, therefore, it is wrong to say that we will live in Heaven forever. We further assume that heaven is already there. But it’s not. It has to be made new.
We will actually live on a new place like this earth, and its called a New Earth.
The Bible actually refers to three different “heavens”. The sky above us is called heaven. The universe is also called heaven. And God’s dwelling place is called heaven. In Revelation 21, the new heaven is a new universe which will accompany the new earth. Of course, God’s dwelling place does exist now and will continue even after the universe is destroyed and re-created.
